We are excited to announce the Nairobi Youth Wellness Retreat 2025, a two-day immersive event grounded in the We R H.O.P.E. methodology and SEE Learning tools. This retreat aims to nurture young minds, helping them develop vital skills in self-awareness, emotion regulation, empathy, and mental health support—all in a playful, nature-filled environment.

About the Retreat

The Nairobi Youth Wellness Retreat incorporates training in attention, awareness, self-regulation, and resiliency, alongside opportunities for open conversations about emotions and mental health. Participants will learn how to manage their feelings, show compassion to peers, and support others during emotional crises. All activities are designed to be interactive, engaging, and enjoyable, facilitated by experienced counselors, educators, and coaches with expertise in emotional CPR, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning.

What Participants Will Experience

  • Mindfulness exercises and emotional regulation techniques
  • Creative workshops, nature walks, and team-building activities

Who Can Apply?

This retreat is open to children aged 5 to 13 years old who are eager to learn, connect, and grow in a safe, nurturing environment.

  • Dates: August 15-16, 2025 | Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (East African Time)
  • Location: Ngong Forest Sanctuary, Nairobi

Cost & Inclusions

  • Fee: KES 2,500 (USD 20) per child per day (KES 5,000 / USD 40 for the full two days)
  • The fee covers all retreat activities, snacks, soft drinks, water, a branded t-shirt, and access to all sessions.

What Participants Should Bring

  • Comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for outdoor activities
  • Packed lunch (meals can be warmed on-site)
  • Water bottle for refilling
  • An extra set of clothes or a t-shirt
  • Snacks to share (optional)

Sadia Salim is a dedicated educator and advocate for the holistic development of children. She believes that emotional intelligence, social awareness, and ethical learning are just as important as academic achievement. Her passion is to empower young minds with the skills and values necessary to thrive in life, fostering a generation of compassionate, thoughtful, and resilient individuals. Through her teaching practice, she strives to create a nurturing environment that prioritizes the well-being and growth of every child, helping them become their best selves.

Milcah Nasubo Namwamba

Milcah Nasubo Namwamba is a passionate educator with over 12 years of experience working with young learners, currently teaching at Mizizi Learning Hub where she creates nurturing, engaging, and inclusive environments that allow every child to thrive. She is a specialist in Social Emotional and Ethical Learning (SEE) and a dedicated learner well-being advocate who believes that when children feel seen, safe, and supported, they are empowered to reach their full potential both academically and personally. Whether guiding lessons, leading discussions, or listening to children’s stories, her core goal is to help learners build confidence, compassion, and a strong sense of self, rooted in her belief that “when we care for the learner’s heart, the mind naturally follows.”

Delicia Kezakimana

Delicia is a dedicated and versatile professional committed to adding value to organizations, her community, and the world. Equipped with skills in managerial and financial accounting, marketing, and administrative support, she is curious, keen to learn, and passionate about creating positive change. Currently serving as an Administrative Assistant at the Mindful African Initiative, she effectively manages office operations, coordinates training logistics, and supports volunteers, demonstrating strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Delicia is also a facilitator trained in Social Emotional and Ethical Learning (SEE Learning) through Emory University, reflecting her commitment to social development and emotional well-being.
